George Orwell’s 1984 never loses its relevance because we still bow down to sacred corporate narratives without questioning them. Media outlets parrot the same dogma every day: we need continuous economic growth to safeguard "our prosperity."
As engaged citizens, we have to pause and ask two basic questions: Who exactly is included in "our"? And how are we defining "prosperity" in the first place? We swallow growth ideology whole, even though the vision of prosperity being sold to us is utterly bankrupt.
