Rethinking the Economy: Why We Must Move From Money Logic Back to Community

Financial anxiety and constant stress define daily life for many people today. We live in a system of perpetual competition, where those under financial pressure are often pitted against one another. Social classes are divided primarily by income and wealth—a pattern that fragments society instead of building connection. Yet biologically, human beings are an integral part of Earth's ecosystems. When we artificially sever this natural bond and subject everything to market logic, the result is burnout, anxiety, and ecological depletion.

Focusing on What Matters: Genuine Public Provision

We need an economy centered on what people truly need: good food, secure housing, healthcare, education, and active community. A key lever for this transition is scaling back the advertising industry by 90%. Today, advertising often functions as a propaganda machine that manufactures artificial scarcity, manipulates behavior, and conditions children to consume unhealthy products like sugar. Stripping away this excess frees up vast material resources, detoxifies social media platforms, and restores our mental independence.

The Higher Currency: Sharing Over Accounting

At the same time, we must rethink our understanding of value and transaction. When we share resources within small solidarity networks or families, it isn't about rigid financial accounting. Giving something yields a return far older and more valuable than money: genuine recognition, inner balance, trust, and well-being. Money is merely a vehicle; the true energy lies in human connection.

Ge:bäck & UNO.TEAM: Craftsmanship and Community in Leipzig

This shift isn't just abstract theory—it is happening right now with projects like Ge:bäck in Leipzig. What the team is building in the artisan baking trade is nationwide one-of-a-kind: a craft business operating on strictly cooperative, solidarity-based, and common-good principles. Ge:bäck launched boldly, but real-world practice reveals the honest truth: despite initial grant support, building a cooperative business remains a constant uphill struggle. Resources are tight, and long-term success isn't guaranteed out of the gate. This is precisely where UNO.TEAM steps in to provide hands-on support and lighten the operational load for the collective.

First Wins in the Neighborhood

Our early efforts on the ground prove that this collaborative approach works:

  • Opening Doors with Die VILLA: In a direct conversation with Leipzig's VILLA cultural center, contact partner Erik immediately agreed to display Ge:bäck informational materials across all their locations.
  • Strong Local Resonance on nebenan.de: A neighborhood post about the project on nebenan.de generated over 40 positive reactions and sparked a lively, constructive discussion within hours on an otherwise quiet platform.

These reactions demonstrate a clear demand for real, human-centered alternatives. By strengthening cooperatives and sharing resources, we empower people to step out of passivity and back into active community building.
