I've recently watched a video by economist Richard Murphy from his “Understanding Economics” series, titled “What is work?” He points out that the true wealth of an economy doesn't come from money or capital, but always from human effort. Capital on its own is useless without human drive, ideas, and energy.
So much vital work in our society—like caregiving or community volunteering—is completely unpaid and invisible in GDP stats, even though that’s where real value is created.
When you talk to young people today, you realize just how disillusioned Gen Z has become. They're constantly told that the job market is stacked against them, that homeownership is out of reach, and that starting a family feels economically impossible. Those are toxic baseline conditions, and we have to fix them.
