To me, wage labor is just the modern version of feudal servitude. There are structures and corporations that own the means of production—Marx was simply spot on about that. They own the resources, in today’s data-driven world the user data, or access to cheap energy. It's all concentrated in the hands of a tiny group of mostly male owners.
To survive, everyone else is forced to sell themselves to this small minority. And if you fail to hold down a job in that setup, you end up on basic welfare.
Once you're on welfare, you're certainly not allowed to catch your breath. You are expected to fall back into line immediately. That's where terms like "re-integration" come from—literally falling back into formation. It's language borrowed from the military and the assembly line.
Our everyday language exposes the outdated machinery we're stuck in. This is 19th and 20th-century logic. It has zero relevance for the 21st century. That is precisely why we are building on the Economy for the Common Good. That's the real answer.
