Between 2003 and 2015, together with Vyacheslav Gromov and Alan Townend, I built a website that I sold to Study.com in the summer of 2015 for $215,000—equivalent to over $303,000 today when adjusted for inflation. Even though my bank balance is much smaller today, I am by no means less happy than I was back then with that large sum in my account. I used the money to launch a vehicle transport GmbH—financially unsustainable in hindsight, but an invaluable life lesson. During that time, I learned an immense amount about myself, my core values, workplace hierarchies, and patriarchal power structures. Ultimately, this experience clearly shows that the amount of money you have has only a very limited impact on personal happiness and well-being.
