Our brain burns more energy than any other organ in our body. That's no accident. For hundreds of thousands of years, this exact ability to think is what has set us apart from every other living creature on this planet. Thinking is what makes us who we are, right down to the core.
But how often do we waste that enormous energy on worry, on paralysis, on endlessly chewing over our fears?
I've decided, for myself, that I won't allow that anymore.
Right now I don't have a fortune sitting in the bank. My accounts aren't exactly bursting. But that doesn't get to me the way it used to, because I have something far more valuable: I have everything I need inside me to build something of my own again, step by step.
For me the appeal was never in simply owning things anyway. Creating something out of nothing, setting stones rolling, actively walking the path — that's a thousand times more alive and more fulfilling than clinging to what will fade regardless.
Everything we tackle out there in the world begins inside our own minds. Napoleon Hill nails it in Think and Grow Rich: what we achieve depends entirely on which patterns of thought we allow. "You first get an idea and then the idea gets you." When an idea grabs you with real passion, it takes the lead.
Earl Nightingale was right: we become exactly what we point our thinking at, day after day.
